Mark grew up in Detroit, and moved to the Bay Area in 1972 to attend university.  He has been practicing architecture in San Francisco for more than 40 years, and has a great understanding of all aspects of the profession.  He spent 32 years with the firm Bull Field Volkmann Stockwell, and its successors – BSA Architects and Field Paoli.  Currently, he is a principal with ELS Architects in Berkeley.

Mark has focused his career on the design of community facilities, including libraries, community and recreation centers, parks, and civic master plans.  His best known projects include the Marin Jewish Community Campus; Mill Valley, Livermore, and Redwood City Community Centers; Belmont, Saratoga, and Tiburon Libraries.  Current projects include the Carter Park Amphitheater in Half Moon Bay, and Willard Park Clubhouse in Berkeley.
