STUDENT DESIGN PROJECTS

The studio project is typically a two-quarters long affordable housing project in San Francisco or Oakland. Working for a community-oriented client provides a real-world component of community needs and expectations compared to other studios at Cal Poly. Student projects assist clients and constituents to better envision the development potential of potential housing sites. The Design Studio meets five days per week for the first 6 weeks of Winter Quarter, and the last 6 weeks of Spring Quarter. Friday afternoons are reserved for neighborhood walks, building tours, or reviews. Projects are comprised of 24 - 30 pages and reviewed projected on large screens. Below are some shorter executive summary examples of typical student final projects.
